Citations

Every answer that used a knowledge base marks its sources inline with numbers like [[1]], [[2]]. A number points at the exact passage (chunk) Ragenta handed to the model — not vaguely at a whole document.

Reading a citation

Hover (or tap) a number to open the source card:

• the document name and page (when the file has pages);
• a snippet from the chunk;
• relevance 0.xx — the passage's relevance score for the question, for comparing sources.

Under the answer, a collapsible N sources section lists every passage used. Click a document name to open its detail page and read the chunk in context.

"Model-written summary of several passages, not a quotation"

When a knowledge base has Summary tree on, some sources are summary passages a model wrote at indexing time rather than verbatim text. The source card says so. They help with broad questions, but when you need the exact wording — a clause, a figure — open the original.

When there are no citations

• The conversation is on No retrieval → no sources, the answer is the model's alone.
• No passage cleared Min. relevance → the answer says the documents do not cover it, if Answer only from the documents is on.

Citations are frozen with the answer: editing or deleting a document later does not change the [[n]] markers in old conversations.
