Start a conversation
The Ask your documents screen, picking a knowledge base, project and model, and the first question.
Chat in the sidebar opens the blank Ask your documents screen. No conversation exists until you send the first question — that question creates it and names it.
The composer toolbar
Three pickers sit above the input:

| Knowledge base | No retrieval or one knowledge base | No retrieval = ask the model directly, no document search, no citations. A conversation with a knowledge base carries the grounded badge. |
| Project | No project or a project | The conversation's spend is attributed here; if the project pins a model, that model is used. |
| Model | Workspace default or a chat model | Only models your plan allows are listed. No other model is available on your plan means the current plan has one tier. |
If the workspace has no knowledge base yet, the screen nudges you to create one.
Sending
- Enter sends, Shift+Enter adds a line.
- While answering, the send button becomes Stop. Stopping keeps what was written (Stopped. What was written is kept.).
- The shimmering status under your question names the current step: Searching your documents… / Preparing the question… / Reading N passages… / Writing the answer…
Cost
Under every answer: model · N credits · Xs. The credits cover the search, the rerank if enabled,
and the generation. Below 5,000 credits the composer warns you and you need to
top up.
Needs chat.send — Viewers cannot send. Limit: 30 questions per minute per person.
